Moreton School PE Faculty
PE Faculty members are highly enthusiastic teachers who inspire and motivate students, and have a desire to acquire the knowledge and expertise, which will enable them to deliver a challenging and stimulating environment.
Students are offered an extensive range of sports opportunities to improve their skills and promote the participation in sport for the rest of their lives.
Students are encouraged to participate in competitive sport against their peers and students from other schools.
The PE Faculty’s aims relate directly to Moreton School’s aims and objectives as well as contributing to the curriculum aims for all young people (Successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens.)
Maintain and stimulate student’s interest and enjoyment in PE, in a supportive and challenging environment
To encourage and motivate all students to develop their full potential through a range of purposeful, yet enjoyable activities within a challenging environment.
To develop an appreciation of a wide range skilful and creative performances that a varied and balanced curriculum provides.
Develop an understanding of the benefits of participation in physical activity for now and later in life through curricular and extra-curricular activities.
To promote the development of interpersonal skills (organisation, cooperation, initiative and responsibility) and to heighten self esteem, whilst encouraging tolerance of and respect for other groups and individuals.
Enable pupils to see Physical Education as a major feature in our lives, employment and culture.
To encourage and motivate all student’s to become responsible citizens by developing their personal and social skills. (For example: a sense of fair play; problem solving; a positive attitude towards exercise, sport and competition).
Throughout key stages 3,4 and students follow a full range of practical activities, for example Football, Rugby, Athletics and Outdoor Adventurous Activities as part of their core PE timetable (Years 7-10) or as part of their Enrichment programme (Year 11 and Post 16)
At key stages 4 and 5 dedicated sports students will be given the option of working towards a sport qualification (e.g. BTEC Sport/GCSE PE/A Level) which involve theory as well as practical activities
Extra Curricular Activities
All students can take part in the wide range of sports which are offered as part of the extra curricular programme. They can progress from participation and competition at House level, through School teams onto district, county, regional and national representation.
Moreton Fitness Centre
The Moreton Fitness Centre provides students with an opportunity to improve their fitness, using a wide range of state-of-the-art equipment for both aerobic exercise and resistance training.
Moreton PE Staff are able to support and monitor the progress of the users.
Students have the opportunity to use the equipment during PE lessons and also as part of the extra curricular programme.
